Q & A with the Docs: Compression Stockings

Q&A Compression Stockings

Q: I wear compression stockings at work during the day. It helps. Should I also wear them at night?

A: You should not need to wear them at night. vein problems are primarily caused by gravity pulling the blood down your legs. when you are lying down gravity is not an issue.

Q: What kind of socks should I get and where can I get them? The flight I will be taking is about 15 1/2 hours long.

A: I would recommend that you purchase a minimum of 20-30mmhg compression stockings and wear them on the flight. Once you have returned, I would recommend that you schedule an appointment with a board-certified phlebologist at Physicians Vein Clinics to evaluate your venous system for reflux.
